Tonya was a strong and quietly powerful woman whose presence made people feel safe, seen, and valued. She was a keeper of secrets, an encourager by nature, and someone who went out of her way to make others feel special without ever asking for recognition. Strength followed her, but so did gentleness.
Her mother was her best friend, and their bond was one of deep love, loyalty, and companionship. Tonya carried a natural protector’s heart, especially for her nieces and nephews and for her little brother when he was young. She watched over those she loved fiercely, standing firm for them in ways both big and small.
Tonya is survived by her parents, Debbie and Ronald Eckhardt; her brother, Conrad (Carrie) Eckhardt; her nieces, Serenity, Trinity, Grace, Harley, and Aubree; and her nephews, Sean, Dawson, Jaxon, Jay Riggs, and Hayden.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Allan Simpson; her sister, Talina Eckhardt; her paternal grandfather, Walter Wilburn Pate; her paternal grandmother, Georgia Eckhardt; and her maternal grandparents, Walter Wilber and Mary Frances Pate.
Her final resting place will be at Crossroads Cemetery in Coker, Alabama. Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Tonya leaves behind a legacy of strength, protection, and love. Her life was a quiet shelter for many, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to be known and loved by her.
