When we think of Van, we think of kindness and thoughtfulness and he was full of that! We got to know him and Priscilla when they and several others joined with Graceway to start a new church; Grace Connection under Rick Davis and his wife, Judy. We have many fond memories of Van especially from our old people’s class, “The Wise Connection”. We enjoyed getting to know each other, and found out what kind of a man Van was! He would help anyone who asked, and did a lot of “Jack of all trades “ work on our church with a smile! And let me tell you about that smile, you never knew what was behind it at times, but it lit up his whole face! And don’t ask if he loved his wife, Priscilla, he even carried her purse for her! We love you and will miss you so much! You just go rest high on that mountain and enjoy Jesus and Heavens Glory!

Van was a loyal friend and a real man with character. He never once backed away from a tough job and was always there to lend a helping hand. It was my honor to be his friend.

I will remember Van as a gentle giant.... not that he was large in stature, but what a heart ! There was no doubt he loved his family beyond what words we can think to say. He loved his work, giving his best at all times. Brookwood is a better place having Van all these years. He will be missed but not forgotten. Love ❤️ and prayers to his family and those who loved him like family as well. Thank God for the great reunion day .... we will meet again Van

Van was one of my best friends. I will miss his support and encouragement into my life as a pastor and as a personal friend. Van and I have been through many experiences together through the mission trips to Mexico and mission work right here in Tuscaloosa. He was always willing to help another person in need. Van had so much to give with all of his mechanical and carpentry skills. He had a servants heart as big as the sky.
I am going to greatly miss him on a personal level also. When you would ask Van how he was doing, no matter how he felt, he would say, "Vertical and breathing". And then it would be followed with, "what do you need." Rest well my friend, rest well.

I loved Mr Van. He was always willing to help anyone. I knew when Rick was gone out of town I didn’t have anything to worry about because I knew Mr. Van had my back no matter what! He was the kindest man I had the pleasure of knowing and I will miss him dearly! I loved talking with him because he was always so positive and would always tell me,- Don’t worry about it- it will all be alright! So happy for his homecoming with the Lord but sad for us left here waiting for our time to come . Love you and your family!
