Virginia Mayfield passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Virginia was born on December 11, 1944 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Virginia was the epitome of a life well-lived. She was the essence of love, and the embodiment of joy. She was a world traveler, visited 49 out of the 50 states, and lived by the motto "you can't take it with you". She never hesitated to give away her smile, she never hesitated to give away her laughter, and she never hesitated to help anyone in need. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her pets. The void that is left by her home-going will be deeply felt by her children, siblings, family members, church family, traveling partners, friends, and anyone else she crossed paths with on a regular basis.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mayfield Sr.; daughter, Paula Wedgeworth; daughter-in-law, Lisa Wedgeworth; siblings, Raye Pate, Charles Lewis, Bessie Ellis, and Wanda Hollis; step daughter, Katherine Hanks and step granddaughter, Rebecca Jones.
