Virginia Short

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Niecy and Tom Logan; brothers Bobby Joe Logan and Roland Logan; sister, Frances Nelson; husband, William Thomas Short.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Northwood Church of Christ, located at 4601 Northwood Estates Drive, Northport, Alabama 35473 on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Virginia is survived by her son Michael J. Bearden, grandson Michael Bearden, Jr. (Katie) and her sisters Barbara Smelser and Tommie McCravy, all her nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted follower of Christ who was a light to everyone she met. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She never met a stranger and loved shopping. She loved clothes, jewelry, makeup, and eating out at restaurants. She loved being a mother to so many people and helping those in need. She helped raise her two younger sisters, Barbara Ann and Tommie Jean, when their mother died at a very young age. She was very sympathetic to handicapped individuals, and she had a very special relationship to her namesake, Virginia Rebecca Cole, “Becky”.

Pallbearers will be Neil Huggins, Jeff Strickland, Jeff Jolly, Michael Bearden, Wes Wright, John Gurther, Bill Wright, Glenn Bridges, and Matthew Oliver.
