Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, J.F. James; her parents, Kathleen and Spurgeon Hyde, and her son-in-law Dr. Stan Brasfield, IV.
She is survived by three daughters, Dana Hornady (Terry), Ilesha Lee, and Andrea Graham; five grandchildren, Itara Groefsema (Jeremy), James Allen Hornady (Jacky), Victoria Strickland (Matthew), Brianna Graham, and Nathaniel Graham (Rebecca); Great Grandchildren, Daniel, Aiden, and Mary Hornady, and Ronan Graham; two sisters Gloria Dean and Linda Phillips.
Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, whose constant thoughts were of her family. Additionally, she was an incredibly talented artist who painted many oils, acrylics and ceramics. She also produced many beautiful charcoals. Wanda's artistic talents showed up in everything she did, from gardening and decorating, to sewing. Thus, she was an incredible homemaker. Still, her proudest accomplishment was her degree from Livingston University in June of 1991, when she graduated with honors having a degree in Business and Accounting. Wanda loved working for R&R Tax Servies in Tuscaloosa, and she loved her weekends and holidays at the beach, where she spent countless hours walking and fishing on the shores of Perdido Key. Her life was full, and her boundless energy will be missed greatly.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Dwain Strickland officiating. Visitation will be held at the chapel one hour prior to the service; graveside burial immediately following at Memory Hill Gardens.
