Mr. Gaddy was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Gaddy and Mary Thacker (Houston) and two brothers, Richard and Leon Gaddy.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Connie Gaddy; son, WC Gaddy (Veronica); daughters, Tiana Gaddy and Tammy Sumner (Samuel); sister, Nancy Brackner; grandchildren, Hunter Gaddy, Trista Elmore (Jeff), Taylor Seagle, Jes Sumner, Gavin Cox, Calli Gaddy and Samantha Sumner; and great-grandchildren, Brinkley, Keegan and Tucker.
Carl was a retiree of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department, a veteran of the United States Army and worked for many years in maintenance at Bryce Hospital.
Carl was lovingly referred to as Pawpaw not only by his family, but by many friends of the family that enjoyed listening to stories he told of his childhood and other events he had experienced throughout his life. He loved spending time with his family and friends each day, on holidays and at his famous weenie roasts. He was an avid lover of anything with an engine and was overjoyed at the experience he got when he was able to drive a race car around the track at Talladega.
Carl will be greatly missed and will always be a part of who each of us is, but we find comfort in the fact that he is at home with his loved ones that have gone on before him.
Pallbearers will be Mark Herring, Jeff Elmore and his seven grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Steve and Elenor Ewing and family, Rose and Billy Holliman and family, Nancy Ewing and family, Pat Ewing, Albert Lathem, Ray Tanner, Gene Dockery, Ray Petty, The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department, Joe Colquitt and many coffee-drinking friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make donations to Bible Baptist Church and/or Duncanville Baptist Church.
