William Robert McPherson, Jr., age 85, of Tuscaloosa, died May 29, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dr. Ken Dunivant officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be today 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Sellers McPherson; sisters, Pauline Norris and Virginia Barron; brothers, Houston McPherson and Taft McPherson; and his parents, Mary Jane and Robert McPherson.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Iris Cleo Sellers Bambarger; nieces, Linda Windham, Barbara Calcutt, Patricia Askins; and nephews, Gene Barron, Owen Barron, and Jack Norris.
Mr. McPherson retired from B.F. Goodrich after more than 30 years of dedicated service to a company that he truly respected. He was an admired employee. Robert spent his early years enjoying hunting, fishing, and working with tools.
Pallbearers will be Ron Windham, Roger Cuttingham, Owen Barron, Gene Barron, and John Hugh Calhoun.
