

Dr. William C. "Bill" Price, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. A resident of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, for 37 years, Bill lived a life distinguished by service, leadership, scholarship, and devotion to family.
Bill shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda Campbell Price. He was a devoted father to four children: Susan A. Faught, David W. Price, Sharon L. Van Dyke, and Susan E. Price, who preceded him in death. He was also the proud grandfather of six grandchildren and great-grandfather of two great-grandchildren.
One of Bill's fondest memories was his time as a student-athlete at Missouri State University, where he played on the basketball teams that won NAIA National Championships in 1952 and 1953. In recognition of his athletic achievements, he was inducted into the Missouri State Basketball Hall of Fame.
On July 14, 1955, Bill was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. His military career spanned three decades and included assignments as a Battery Artillery Executive Officer at Camp Lejeune, Commanding Officer of a self-propelled 155mm Howitzer Battery in Norman, Oklahoma, participation in NATO exercises in Germany, and service in various assignments at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1985 with the rank of Colonel.
Bill earned his Doctorate from the University of Missouri in 1966 and devoted his professional career to higher education. He served in several academic leadership roles before retiring from the University of Alabama in 1992 as Director of Engineering Student Services.
Bill will be remembered for his commitment to excellence, his service to his country, his dedication to education, and his love for his family. He was laid to rest with full military honors in the presence of his family.
He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, service, and achievement that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
