

TUSCALOOSA – W. W. "Woody" Bristow, age 97, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died June 14, 2017, at home. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today, June 17, 2017, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Lou Ann Sellers officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Strickland Bristow; parents, Richard Thomas Bristow and Edith Jordan Bristow; twin sister, Edith Mae Bristow; sisters, Mary Christian Bristow and Luneale Bristow Morris; and brothers, Robert Lee Bristow, Nathan Whiting Bristow and Bennie Thomas Bristow. Survivors include his sons, Bobby Bristow and Clay Bristow; grandchildren, Katie Bristow Frulla, Robert Bristow and Austin Bristow; and great-grandchildren, Webb Bristow and Parker Bristow.Woody was a World War II veteran serving in the Philippines and graduate of the University of Alabama. He went on to be a teacher at Tuscaloosa Junior High and principal of Eastwood Junior High before retiring in 1981.Pallbearers will be Austin Bristow, Robert Bristow, Carl Gorday, Tommy English, Vance Rose and Christopher Jacob.
