Anna Elsie Baar, age 84, of Jerome, peacefully passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at Twin Falls Care Center, Twin Falls.
She was born September 19, 1931 in Artesia, California to Tamme (Tom) and Aka (Agnes) Broersma De Vries, immigrants from the Netherlands to the dairy valley of Southern California.
On March 25, 1949 Anna was joined in marriage to Theodore (Ted) Baar in Artesia, CA. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Anna loved to read, sew, crochet and knit. Ted and Anna moved to Tulare, CA in 1965, then to Jerome, ID in 1974 where they owned and operated a dairy farm. In their later years, the couple enjoyed traveling together. They always looked forward to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s visits. After her husband’s passing in 2005, Anna remained at home on the dairy, keeping books and piecing quilts.
Survivors include her children: Carol (Mike) Alsum of Aurora, CO; Susan (Gary) Van Dyk and Yvonne (Ken) Loman, both of Buhl, ID; Janice (Eric) Peterson of Rockford, MI; Rev. Larry (Shari) Baar of Hagerman, ID; and Ted (Kim) Baar, Jr. of Jerome, ID. Sisters: Susie Kravig of Medford, OR; Joan Van Baren of Crete, IN; Jennie (Dave) Van Duyn of Zeeland, MI; Alice Ruth De Kruyf of Jerome, ID; and her brother, Thomas (Mary) De Vries of Visalia, CA. Brother-in-law, Ken Bootsma of Lafayette, IN; as well as 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Baar; her parents, Tamme and Aka Broersma De Vries; one sister, Mary Beth Bootsma; a granddaughter, Michelle Alsum; also three brothers-in-law, Arvin Kravig, Gilbert Van Baren and Calvin De Kruyf.
Anna’s family would like to thank everyone at Grace Assisted Living and Twin Falls Care Center for the care and support she received during her stay at your facilities.
A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Twin Falls Reformed Church Chapel, 1631 Grandview Drive North, Twin Falls with Pastor Shorty Brown and Pastor Larry Baar officiating. A private family interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, May 11, 2016 at White Mortuary, 136 4th Ave. East, Twin Falls.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given in Anna’s name to your favorite charity.
