She later obtained her CNA certification from the College of Southern Idaho. While raising her family, she worked as a clerk and in medical records at the old Twin Falls County Hospital and St. Benedict’s Hospital in Jerome. She married Larry Rehwalt in 2010, and they lived together in Twin Falls for the past 8 years. Larry was truly Christy’s eternal partner, and they brought each other daily joy with a very close relationship. He cared for her throughout her year and a half battle with tongue cancer that ended with her recent cardiac arrest while in the hospital. Christy gave birth to her son, Kole, in 1997 and soon after was on her own, excelling as a single mom for 13 years. Christy has always been her son’s number one fan and was overjoyed when he joined the Boise State football team on a full ride scholarship in 2016. She had a deep love for the Boise State football culture and its meaning to bronco nation, on and off the field, which she showed through tremendous support of the team. Along those lines, Christy’s always excelled at her truly natural gift, being a mom. She has always been close with any and all kids in her life, including her son’s friends throughout his life and the children in her neighborhood. It brought her immense joy to help people, young and old, Christy strived to help others even at the end of her life. She was also in love with the outdoors and was thankful for the many opportunities the Magic Valley had to offer such as nature walks, camping, fishing, flowers and bird watching. Christy fought a long, hard, extremely painful battle with cancer, but she showed immense strength as she maintained a resolve to come out of the fight victorious to her last breath. St. Luke’s MISTI and hospital gave her amazing care and support throughout her battle, and the late Charles Smith had a great impression on her.
