Dorothy passed away in her home on the morning of February 10th.
Dorothy was born in Twin Falls, ID on February 5th, 1950 to Marvin and Eleanore Sheridan. She grew up with 4 sisters and they were all born within a 5-year age span. She spoke fondly of her childhood, always sharing great memories with all of her family. Her childhood was filled with such great memories that she wanted to make sure her kids would one day share their own stories too. She went to Twin Falls High School and still has a connection with friends from those days. At 16, she married David Edson and they had a handsome son, Brad. They later divorced, and she married James McMullen. James added a son Jimmy to their lives and after years of trying they finally had a beautiful daughter, Erin. James and Dorothy later divorced. She lived out the last of her years in her beautiful dream home with Erin. She joked and says she finally got to be a stay at home Mom.
Dorothy’s career with Twin Falls County started when she was 16 just working part-time. At 18 she transitioned to full-time and has been with the county ever since. She had such a passion for her job and her team. Dorothy was a workaholic, and this was a trait she passed on to her kids. She would always be the first one to work and talked about how much she enjoyed getting to know so many people over all those years. Throughout all the years, so many people touched her life. It didn’t matter if you were a co-worker or if she would see you in court or at the traffic counter, you were a part of her work family. She also knew everyone deserved a second chance, and those were her favorite stories to tell, the success stories. You also always knew where you stood with Dorothy, she was honest, forthcoming and she was going to tell you how it was, even if you didn’t want to hear it. But it was never out of anything other than love. If you were getting one of her talks, it’s because she cared about you.
Dorothy is survived by her children Brad (Christina), James (Shannon), and Erin and of course Cassidy the kitty. Her sisters, Myrna and Margaret. Her grandchildren Tesla, Andrew (Banda), Taylor, Evie and Frankee. Her great grandchildren Aiden and Marlie. Her heart was so big, and she knew love expanded past immediate family. These people also hold a special place in her heart-Emma, Anthony, Joeylyn, Megan and Caleb. She also loved being an aunt to a ton of nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Eleanore, 2 sisters, Nancy and Barbara, a niece Kristen and her beloved grandson Garrison and of course Elmo kitty. She is having the reunion of her life.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice Visions and the staff at Dr. Melvin’s office for their compassion and support in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to Hospice Visions.
A time for celebrating Dorothy will be held directly following the service at Slice in downtown Twin Falls.
