Marvel Edna Palmer, 79 passed away May 23, 2017 in the comfort of her home in Kimberly, ID after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She remained strong willed and determined throughout her fight without losing her humor, dignity, and love for her family.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., at White Mortuary located at 136 4Th Ave E, Twin Falls, Idaho with a reception following. Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls.
Marvel Edna Lukecart was born on November 10, 1937 in Mandan, North Dakota. Her early years were spent on a farm in North Dakota and Montana until her folks moved her to Oregon and finally settled in McCall, Idaho. Marvel graduated from Donnelly-McCall High School in 1955 where she participated in many school activities. Upon graduation, Marvel attended a Spokane school where she learned shorthand to become a steno type (court) reporter. She later worked for Idaho Power where she met her husband, Lloyd (Bud) Elmer Palmer. They were married in McCall on December 17, 1960.
Marvel and Bud made their home in Kimberly, Idaho where they raised their four children and made many strong connections to the community. She worked as a seamstress but her greatest joy was being a mother. She was a fierce protector of her children and their biggest supporter. From scout troops, school and sporting events to arrests, breakups, and heartbreak, she was always there. She showed this same support to her grandchildren, the true loves of her life. Marvel loved traveling the world with Bud after his retirement in 1996. She was fascinated by other cultures and felt truly blessed to have the opportunity to see the world. A woman of many talents, Marvel excelled in everything she did. She enjoyed taking photos of her family and gardens. She could easily make an exquisite wedding gown that fit the bride perfectly. When she could, she enjoyed playing golf with friends and family, making a hole in one at the Pleasant Valley golf course on August 19, 1999. She will always be remembered for her many collections, her beautiful flower gardens, her humongous German chocolate cakes, her large family dinners, and the unending love and generous support she gave to those around her.
Marvel is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Morris Lukecart and Myrtle Karoline Frandsen Lukecart, and two half-brothers, Duane Martin and Clifford Lee Lukecart.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lloyd (Bud) Palmer of Kimberly, ID; her son Troy Palmer(Gina) of Kimberly, ID; her son Gary Palmer(Tammy) of Twin Falls, Id; her son Robin Palmer of Murtaugh, Id; her daughter Renda Palmer (Erik Payne) of Boise, Id; her daughter Sukanya Jett (Peter Strang) of Saline, MI. Her grandchildren Kyra and Alan Palmer, Kohl and Olive Payne, Alexis, Justin, and Michael Allgood, and Tyler Jett. She is survived by her brother Floyd Lukecart (Flori) of Redmond, WA; brother Harold Lukecart (Joyce) of McCall, ID; brother Dennis Lukecart of Kennewick, WA; and many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
We love you mom. We hope you are at peace and without pain and are sitting in the grandest of gardens where the sun is always shining and there’s not a single weed to pull.
