

Ron was born on October 25, 1939 at Buhl, Idaho the son of Lyllis and Richard Helsley. He was raised in Rogerson and attended Filer schools. Ron was a trucker for more that 46 years. He loved driving the big rigs and drove for Arlo Lott, Wagners and Martens. After retiring from the road, he would drive locally from time to time.
Ron was a devoted Bass Angler and when he was not spending time with his wife or on the road, you could always find him on a lake. Ron was a member of the B.A.S.S. Federation and co-founded two local clubs, the Magic Valley Bass Masters and the Idaho Bass Hunters.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, stepbrother; Marvin Helsley and his stepson; Terry Hammon.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Twin Falls, his sisters; Vicki Rodriguez of Arizona, Bonnie Cecil of Nevada, Gloria and Delila both of Holister. His brothers; Richard “Dick” Helsley of Jerome, Danny Sexton and Phil Sexton both of Nebraska and Rell Campbell of Twin Falls. His children; Kenneth Harpster and David Harpster both of Pocatello, Bryan Helsley of Hagerman, Brandon Helsley of Twin Falls, Mark Helsley of Buhl and Mike Helsley of Twin Falls. Three step-daughters; Renne Lattin of Twin Falls, Roma Stout of California and Carma Willoughby of Utah. Six grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held for family and friends Monday evening December 21, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at White Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2009 at 12:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints located at 667 Harrison St. Twin Falls (across from Harrison Elementary off of Falls). A visitation for family and friends will be held at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park”.
