Rose Marie McCoy, of Boise and formerly Twin Falls, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013, at St. Luke's Meridian Medical Center of age related causes. She was 88.
Rose Marie Wilson was born at her family home in Twin Falls on December 16, 1925, the fifth child of Fred Wilson, Sr. and Jennie (Watkins) Wilson. She attended Twin Falls schools and married Robert W. McCoy on December 16, 1945, at Twin Falls where they lived most of their lives. Four children were born to this union: Karen Nan, Steven Lynn, Linda Mae, and Randy Ward.
Rose Marie's children, family, and friends were her pride and joy. A generous person by nature, Rose Marie loved people and was actively involved with her church where she taught Sunday School, chaired Circle, and assisted with weddings and funeral dinners. She participated in the Bickel School PTA, was a room mother, and organized a Camp Fire group that she helped lead for 18 years. She also served as an assistant Cub Scout leader for three years. She enjoyed old time western music, and she and Bob were members of the Slippers and Boots Square Dance Club with Ruth and Max Moffitt. Rose Marie also worked retail from time to time: The Paris, Fox Floral, Price Hardware. As a young woman before marriage, she worked at the Gowen Field PX at Boise.
Rose Marie helped Bob with their custom combine business and became a farm wife when they purchased a 160-acre farm near Eden. Together, they built and sold three homes in Twin Falls. She was a great cook and homemaker; her home was tidy and welcoming, and she always enjoyed it when company arrived at the door. She sewed for her three children and became a good seamstress, even making doll clothes in later years.
Rose Marie's husband, Bob, passed away on January 28, 2012, after 66 years of marriage. She missed him very much, and in May of 2012 she “pulled up roots” and moved to Boise, Idaho, to be near her eldest son, Steve. She moved into an apartment at Spring Creek Manor Assisted Living in Boise. Steve and Jo were pleased to look after her needs at Spring Creek Manor, sharing occasional meals at/from local eateries when Rose Marie was able.
Rose Marie's dream was to travel with her son Randy and Leigh to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in January of 2013. Sadly, she began having serious health issues a month before the trip could become a reality. Rose Marie remained at Spring Creek Manor but her failing health required hospitalization eight times during 2013. Her hearing had become poor, but her mind remained sharp. Her creativity resurfaced when her son Steve purchased a “Color Me” by PJ.C. Smart adult coloring book and colored pencils for her. She loved choosing the colors and coloring the unusual animal art designs for several months, non-stop. Rose Marie will be remembered for her collection of small “Teddy” bears surrounding her at all times, many of which she had given names.
Rose Marie is survived by her children, Steve (Jo) McCoy of Boise, Idaho, Linda (Robert) Hampton of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Randy (Leigh Robinson) McCoy of Bellingham, Washington; by her grandchildren, Shane Birrell, Kevan Birrell, Brandy Couch, Kyle McCoy; and by several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Pearl Wilson and Izzy Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. McCoy; her parents Fred and Jennie Wilson; a stillborn daughter, Karen Nan McCoy; her brothers, Fred Wilson, Jr., Tracy Wilson, Buck Wilson; and her sister, Alice Anderson.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at White Mortuary, 136 4th Avenue East, Twin Falls, with Pastor Mike Hollomon of the United Methodist Ministries officiating.
