Wayne Howard Short, 85, of Twin Falls passed away June 28, 2014 at his home in Twin Falls.
Wayne was born to Solon Grady Short and Cecilia Jane Thorne on May 25, 1929 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He had 7 sisters and 1 brother. The family packed up and moved to Idaho in the 1950’s where Wayne met the love of his life, Charlotte Lorraine Griffin. They were married July 23, 1954 and so began his new journey in life. Together they raised four children, Mary Jane, Solon, Robert and Teresa and later on they had the opportunity to adopt their fifth child, Jerry.
Wayne had some great experiences throughout his life; breaking horses at an early age, he was a mechanic and a welder, he worked in the mines and together with his wife Charlotte built a reputable goat dairy. He was a farmer and a timber man. One of his most amazing experiences in life was when he had the opportunity to go to Oaxaca, Mexico to help build a bible college.
Dad loved the Lord, loved people and loved life. His most favorite pastime was reading the word of God and sharing it with others. He could sing like no other and enjoyed playing his harmonica and oh how he could whistle. He was a humble and loving man that will be deeply missed.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte; three children, Mary Jane Melendez; Robert (Lois) Short and Jerry Short; as well as 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Solon Grady and Cecilia Jane Short; one brother, Solon Grady Short, Jr.; his three sisters, Dora Jane Short, Amie Jones and Louise Mason; as well as his son, Solon Howard Short and his daughter, Teresa Louise King; granddaughter, Angela Marie Short; great granddaughter, Maricela Melendez; nephew, Michael Patrick and niece, Peggy Short.
