Alvin (Sonny) Donald Murphy age 79, passed away on January 24, 2026 in Tyler, TX. He was born on January 25, 1946 in Tyler, TX to Alvin and Lorretter Murphy. Alvin was raised in the Chapel Hill area of Tyler, TX and graduated from the University of North Texas in 1970. He served in the Navy and was an E-3 radioman in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967. He married Brenda (Barbee) in 1967 and the couple had 1 child together. He was a driver for J.B. Hunt Transport in Dallas, TX where he worked for more than 12 years. Al enjoyed social media, accounting, music and writing short stories. His family and friends will always remember him as kind, helpful, and a great friend, he never met a stranger. He was always ready to share his relationship with the Lord.
Alvin was preceded in death by his father; Alvin Mason Murphy, mother; Lorretter, half sister; Geneva Higginbotham, ;youngest brother, Dalvin Rondald Murphy, nephew; Richard Higginbotham. He will be deeply missed and his memory will live on in the hearts that knew and loved him.
