Mr. Harper lived in Tyler, Texas since 1998 and was a former resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Tech. Sergeant in the fire department for 25 years. His civilian jobs included Rural Metro as fire chief. Mr. Harper also served 7 years in Iraq, and Afghanistan as fire chief for WSI. He truly loved serving his country. After retiring in 2018, he devoted his life to his daughter, grandchildren, and riding his Harley Davidson. Mr. Harper was also a member of the American Legion and the Tyler HOG Chapter.
Mr. Harper is survived by his daughter, Misty Harper Brunner and husband, Lucas of Evadale, TX; grandchildren, Cody Brunner and wife, Taylor of Lumberton, TX, Cori Brunner, and Carli Brunner of Evadale, TX; siblings, Sandy Parker and husband, Jim of Athens, TX and Steve Harper and wife, Sherri of Chandler, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Harper is also survived by many “special bonus” friends statewide and abroad. He made lifelong friends that will never be forgotten!
Serving as pallbearers are Fire Service Color Guard and U.S. Air Force.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will occur on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., following the military graveside service at 11:30 a.m. in the Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery with Alana “Ally” Freeman officiating.
