Bobby Lynn Renson, age 85, went to be with his Lord in heaven on May 16, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 beginning at 2 pm at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home officiated by Daryl Wise and Curtis Gilbert.
Bobby was born to Eddie and Euba (Grimes) Renson on March 10, 1934 in Arp, Texas. He joined the United States Army at the age of 18 and was a Military Policeman for 23 years before retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major in 1976. He served in Korea and Vietnam. Highlights of his career included riding on Air Force One with President Eisenhower and guarding the Bikini Atoll. After retiring from the Army he worked again for the government with the United States Post Office and earned his Bachelor's Degree in criminology from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Bobby loved pets of all kinds and acquired a menagerie of furry friends. He loved to read western and spy books.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Charles, Eddie and Roy and his wife of 53 years, Helen Beverly Renson. He is survived by his wife, Mamie Marshall Renson; daughter Tammy Rooney; son Ricky Renson and his wife Debbie; step-son Michael Gibson and his wife Sharon; grandchildren Christine, Nicholas and Caitlin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Gibson, Christine Renson, Nicholas Renson, Caitlin Renson, Bill Gaut and Gary Simmons. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Gresham, 16844 County Rd 165, Tyler, TX 75703.
