

Calvin Lewis Taylor, age 83, of Tyler, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. Calvin was born on October 9, 1941, in Jefferson, Texas to William Taylor and Valerie (Wright) Taylor. He grew up in Tyler and graduated from Emmett J. Scott High School in 1959.
After graduation, Calvin enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably for two years, including a tour in Vietnam. During his military service, he married his first wife, Patricia Ann Tuncle, and from this union four children were born: Dennis LeWayne, Sharon Renea, Vaughn Keith and Anthony Jerome.
Following his military service, Calvin began a professional career with Southland Corporation. His interests included a love of football at every level: high school, college, and professional. Calvin also had a strong passion for blues and R&B music.
In 1978, Calvin married Beverly White, and they shared 46 years of marriage.
Calvin is survived by his four children, Dennis, Sharon (Lee Carey), Vaughn Keith (Laurie Taylor), and Anthony; his grandchildren: Aaron Taylor, Patricia Taylor, Anne Taylor, Alexander Taylor, Chazzston Taylor, Alexia Taylor, Priscilla Taylor, Avery Taylor, Taylor Carey and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Taylor, his parents, William and Valerie Taylor and his sister, Ozie Lee Ivory Starks.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in the celebration of Calvin’s life.
