At the age of 17 years old, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Navy where he proudly and honorably completed his tour of duty. Shortly thereafter he met and married his wife of 54 years Patricia Stephens of Bellville, Illinois. The newlyweds ventured out to California and Colorado where John accepted a job with Haliburton that eventually brought them to Texas with three young children, where he lived for over 40 years.
John Davis was God fearing man, he pursued a lifelong quest of biblical knowledge and was a true brother in Christ. He was a devout husband, principled father, and proud grandfather.
In his youth he was an avid hiker and climber, who loved to camp and play tennis. John truly was a loyal friend, dedicated professional and a competitive billiard player. He enjoyed playing chess and was a skilled marksman and instructor. He was also a passionate guitar player.
John’s love for the Lord, his wife, Patti, his children and grandson never diminished. He sleeps with the Lord now, awaiting the sound of the trumpet. Our love for him will never fade as we await the return of our Lord. Then we will be gathered together with the Lord and we will be with John forever more.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 1PM at the VFW Post 1799, 14391 Rhones Quarter Road, Tyler, TX 75703.
