Ille immigrated to the United States from West Germany in 1963 to marry the love of her life, John G. Marcontell, and was proud to become a U.S. citizen. She was very family oriented, and at the same time, enjoyed her work at Granny’s Needle Haus in Tyler, Texas for many years. Ille was gifted in handwork. She was known for her skill in knitting, crocheting, and needlework, which were her favorite hobbies. She shared her talent with family by custom designing and creating special gifts, which will be forever treasured. Ille also expertly sewed for herself as well as family and painted from time to time, displaying her art at home. Personally, Ille was a gentle, good-natured person who looked on the bright side of life with a smile and exuded warmth, positivity, and a calm demeanor. She often made people laugh with the way she expressed herself and she delighted in doing so. Ille moved to Spring, Texas in 2010 to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. She loved animals and spoiling her pets was another favorite pastime.
Ille is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Marcontell) Michel, son-in-law, Robert Michel, grandsons, Matthew and Bradley Michel, brother, Karl Nottbeck, nephews, Bernd and Stefen Nottbeck and their children, nieces Christiane Stuttman and Silvia Urban and their children, and cousin Dorothee Monzel. She is preceded in death by her husband, John G. Marcontell, parents, Bernhard and Martha Stiefelhagen, sister, Gisela Nottbeck, and brother Bernhard Nottbeck.
Honorary pallbearers are Robert Michel, Matthew Michel, Bradley Michel, and Karl Nottbeck.
