Ertis Eugene Bass

He was born on July 25, 1938 in Rocky, Oklahoma to Dorothy and Ertis Bass. Ertis was raised in Rocky, Oklahoma and attended Rocky High School in 1957 and went on for some college. He marries Joice Foster in 1961 and the couple had 3 children. Ertis was an electrician at Goodyear Tire & Rubber, where he worked for more than 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, and camping. His friends and family will always remember him as a kind person.

Ertis is preceded in death by his daughter, Gena Bass Forest, who passed in December of 1998.

Ertis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joice, his children Stephanie Bass Gutkowski of Tyler and Kent Bass and wife Carrie of Ben Wheeler, grandchildren Justin Boldt, Casey Heinrich, April Paredez, Austin Scott, Hayley Fulton, Melody Bass, Tabitha Bass, and Hunter Bass, and 3 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will occur from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home - Cemetery & Mausoleum, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, TX 75704. A celebration of life will occur Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will follow at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
