Starlea,

You and your family are in my family's thoughts and prayers at this time of grief. Here is the message I have distributed to TxDOT retirees in Loye's memory. It was my honor to serve with Loye for many years at TxDOT's Tyler District Office.

Danny Aylor
Murchison, Texas

In Memory of:

George Loye Humphrey
Born July 10, 1941
Died July 2, 2018
Aged 76 years, 11 months & 22 days.

Loye was born in Cass County, Texas on July 10, 1941, the son of Herman H. & Aline (Hall) Humphrey. He married Starlea B. Atkison in Smith County, Texas on September 3, 1990.

Loye served the People of Texas as a registered professional engineer for over four decades in the Texas Department of Transportation’s Tyler District. Only recently retired, he was a well-known and respected part of Tyler District’s multiple-award-winning design team. He had excellent skills and an unassuming and welcoming manner that will be missed by his many friends and transportation associates.

Loye died in Tyler, Smith County, Texas in the early morning hours of Monday, July 2, 2018. His unexpected death came due to complications following a neck injury he sustained in a fall at his Tyler home.

A funeral service has been scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Tyler’s Central Baptist Church, 1343 E. Grande Blvd., Tyler, Texas. A good attendance will honor Loye’s memory and help comfort his widow and other family members. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in Whitehouse, Texas.
