Gerald Gaston Ferguson, age 84, of Tyler, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Tyler. He was born on August 27, 1927 in Oakland, Oklahoma to W.A. and Lorena Susie (Jones) Ferguson, they preceded him in death. After high school Gerald served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Tyler Pipe after a dedicated career worker his way through the ranks until eventually becoming a maintenance supervisor. Gerald attended the Westwood Baptist Church and could often times be found sitting on the front pew playing his violin.
Gerald is survived by one sister, Betty Stanley, and husband Alyson”Leon”, of Tyler and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Ferguson Brown, and one brother, Jack W. Ferguson, Sr.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Tyler Memorial Park with Brother James Chetham officiating. Gerald’s great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Tuesday evening at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Westwood Baptist Church or the Gideon Foundation.
