Glen was a son, brother, husband, uncle, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. He was a Cowboy; determined and tough! He meant what he said, and he was only going to say it one time. He fought hard for the things he loved, his family, his country, and his freedom. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, country music, and women! You would often find him sitting on the porch drinking coffee (or Dr. Pepper) with his cigarette, while listening to the birds, watching the squirrels, and just taking in all the great outdoors had to offer.
Glen joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 17 (1959) where he served his country. Glen was in the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron-363 and participated with the boxing team.
Glen worked road construction for approximately 58 years, mainly in the Houston and surrounding areas. Brown and Root, IOI Systems, Kinsel, Hubco and B. R. H. Garver Construction were the companies he worked for. He believed in working hard and he believed that you do the job right and until it is done. That is how Glen ran his road construction crews as the General Superintendent. He was often brought in to take over and finish off underperforming jobs, and/or would routinely be placed on new, high-profile jobs. One that stands out, to Josh Daley, is the bridge over trinity river on the inbound side of HWY 59.
Glen was a sharp dressed man and a big flirt. He enjoyed entertaining his children, nieces and nephews with stories, music, and dancing in the back yard. He and his brothers had an occasional introduction with the law for bending a few rules while hunting. Glen believed if you fell...you got up, dust yourself off and get back to it.
Glen is survived by his children, Glen R. Daley Jr. and fiancé, Darley Lopez; daughter, Dorothy Wenker; son Joshua Daley and wife, Megan; son, Zackery Daley and wife, Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Duncan, and husband Ron; brother, David Daley Sr., sister, Sharon McQueen. As well as his grandson John Wenker, and wife Darian; Granddaughter, Kimberly Wenker Caffero and wife, Kayla; Grandson, Samuel Daley; Great Grandson, Dayton Yancovich; Great Granddaughter, Maicyn Wenker, Great Grandson, Maverick Wenker, along with several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Glen is preceded in death by his Father, Clarence R. Daley; Mother, Viola Ward Smith; Brother, Billy G. Daley, and Robert L. Daley; Sister, Molly McCrary; and Daughter, Mary Daley.
