Helen Elizabeth Krahmer, age 99, of Tyler, passed away in the late afternoon hours of Friday, November 18, 2011 at the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 20, 1912 in Canton, Ohio to Clarence Frank and Anna Marie Berger Arnold, they preceded her in death. Throughout her life, Helen was everything from a wife and mother to a nurse and a code breaker for the United States Navy during World War II serving as a part of the WAVES. She married Emory Leroy Krahmer in 1945 in Washington, D.C. Together they moved to Minnesota to work on the family farm before moving Tyler where they raised their family and lived a lifetime of memories. Mr. Krahmer preceded her in death in 1979 but Helen remained faithful to vows. In her later years, Helen learned to crochet and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the ballet. She was a Jehovah’s Witness. Ms. Krahmer leaves behind a large family who will remember her strong will, loving arms, and compassion for others.
