

Ida, a retired server for the Tyler Independent School District, was born on January 18, 1933 in Shreveport, LA. She grew up in Shreveport. Following school she married James Edward Meadows, Jr. She and her husband lived in numerous places due to James’ military service before settling in Tyler. She and her husband owned and operated a convenience store. After selling their store, Ida went to work for the Tyler Independent School District; she worked there many years, retiring in 1995.
She was an avid bowler and made many friends through that activity.
James preceded her in death in 2002.
She is survived by her daughters, Delane Capps and her husband, Jeff of Hawkins, Wanda Hogan and her husband, Matthew of Forney; sisters, Ruby Elliott of Youngsville, LA, Betty Hale of Kilgore; four grandchildren, Seth Capps, Reed Bryant, Connor Hogan and Banner Hogan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 27, 2015 at Tyler Memorial Cemetery, with Reverend Terry Davis officiating.
