Jimmy loved fishing, listening to country music, attending car races and spending time with family and friends. Throughout his life Jimmy worked as an auto body mechanic. Jimmy was a lifelong, avid fisherman. In later years, Jimmy was devoted to taking his wife, Shirley, to numerous appointments (and stores). When at home he enjoyed sitting outside listening to country music, waving at the neighbors, while watching their comings and goings.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Shirley Rozell Merrill Hooker; brother Bill Hooker; Sister Katie Jeeter; son Shawn Hooker; stepdaughters and their husbands, Jill and Neal Kitchens, Sherry and Walter Jordan; Grandchildren, Jonathon Kitchens, Kara Jordan, and Melanie Stone; Great-grandchildren Elyana Cochran, Belle Cochran, Violet Kitchens, Gracie Stone, and Jordan Stone.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Friday, June 21st 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Road Church of Christ in Tyler, Texas.
