Johnny was raised in Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School in 1950. He served in the United States Army as a Medical Corporal and served 3 years in Japan. He married Deana Childress in 1957, and the couple had two children together. He was a forklift operator after serving in the Army. In his spare time, he enjoyed singing, and writing songs, fishing and cooking on the grill. His family will always remember him as a loving father and provider.
He is preceded by his parents, and loving wife Deana Goodwin.
He is survived by his sons James Goodwin and wife Lora Goodwin, Larry Goodwin and wife Sammy Goodwin, grandchildren Lisa Goodwin, James Lynn Goodwin, Jerry James Goodwin, great grandchildren, Myles Goodwin, Kitt Goodwin, Damien Goodwin, Patricia Oppen and Kylee Oppen, and niece Amy Childress.
He will be deeply missed and loved by all that knew of him.
