

Marion Roy Gilmore, age 79 passed away on 2-10-2025 in MT Enterprise, TX surrounded by family. He was born 10-20-1945 in Tyler, TX to Albert and Louise Golden Gilmore. Roy was raised in Tyler, Tx and attended Chapel Hill ISD.
Roy was SPC in the US Army campaign Vietnam 67-69. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam campaign medal w/60, 2 Purple Hearts, Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star, Overseas Bar, Sharpshooter, Combat Infantryman Badge and a Good Conduct Medal.
He married Mary Gilmore in 1980 and the couple had 7 children. He was a retired construction worker. In his spare time Roy enjoyed his fur babies, riding motorcycles and all outdoor activities. His family and friends will always ręmember him as a hardworking, loving husband, father and grandfather. He could be tough on his kids but his grandkids got to enjoy his great humor.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, brother, granddaughter and great granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary of 45 years, his sister Joyce Reeves, his children Tammy Abbott, Cindy and Bobby Parks, Troy and Tanya McBride, Renea Smith, Tiffani Hebert, Tina and Stephen Hollier and Joan and Rob Pope, 27 grandkids, 31 great grandkids, aunt Imogene, several nieces, nephews and other family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and their amazing nurses, 4th floor UT Health Henderson hospital nurses, and a very special thank you to Richard Gilmore for being there for Dad and Mom.
A graveside service for Roy will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Salem Cemetery, located at 23658 County Rd 2110, Troup, TX 75789.
