

Mary was born in El Dorado, Arkansas (Warner Brown Hospital) and grew up in Mt. Holly, Arkansas. She attended and graduated from New Hope High School in Mt. Holly. She was also a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. After High school, Mary went on to attend the University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree. Continuing her education, she then proceeded to earn a Master's degree at Southern Arkansas University. Following graduation, Mary spent 30 years teaching English and Elementary Reading as well as an additional 5 years spent as an adjunct professor at the Jarvis Christian University located in Hawkins, Texas. Mary allocated her time at the Northeast Texas Cowboy Church as a bookkeeper. Mary also volunteered to help improve the quality of life for others as a member of the Top Ladies of Distinction. Mary had a few hobbies she loved, including shopping, tending to her garden, and playing mini-golf with her children and grandchildren. Ezard Charles Thomas and Mary Ann Thomas married on October 29, 1976. The couple went on to have 4 lovely children: Stacy C.Thomas, Ken M. Thomas, Kim M. Thomas, and Shannon C. Thomas.
Mary is survived by husband Ezard Charles Thomas; children Kimberly M. Thomas Smith, Ken M. Thomas, Tabitha Thomas(daughter-in-law); grandchildren Jalen Smith(Karla), Jordan Smith; great grandchildren Melanie Smith and Milliana Smith; siblings Shirley White, John Williams(Sandra), Margie Reed(Andrew), Eileen Lowery; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, located at 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, TX 75704. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Tyler Memorial Park.
