Minnie Lee Smith

Minnie was a devout wife to her spouse, Bob, for almost 70 years. She was a loving Mother to three sons. Minnie took great pride in her home church, Southern Oaks Baptist Church, which was organized in the Smith Family home in 1957. While serving as church hostess for many years, she proudly officiated as the Director of Smith County Baptist Young Women's Auxiliary (YWAs). Known as "Ms. Minnie" to friends and strangers alike, she shared her warm, servant's heart with all who needed her help. She welcomed and fed many a wandering athlete that found their way into the Smith kitchen, their home away from home. Minnie never met a stranger, and her presence reflected her joy for living.

Minnie is survived by two sons, Danny Bob and Mickey Don Smith; sister, Yvonne Mullens; and her daughter, Kathy Sizemore; granddaughter, Leanne Smith Shultz; grandsons, Darwin Smith, Matthew Smith, Marshall Smith, Chad Smith, Blake Smith, and Spencer Smith; she is also honored by 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Minnie cherished the many friends in the membership of her church. All were close to her heart.

Minnie is preceded in death by parents, Houston Leonard "Mike" Snider and Ruth Patterson Snider; her spouse, Robert Lee (Bob) Smith; son, Kenneth Wayne Smith and his wife, Sandra; granddaughter, Gretchen Smith St. John; two brothers, Paul and Harold Snider; and two sisters, Ruth Moss and Shirley Ruth.

A time of visitation for Minnie will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Southern Oaks Baptist Church, 601 East Amherst Drive, Tyler, Texas 75701. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 pm at the church, followed by the graveside service at 3:30 pm at Cathedral In The Pines Memorial Garden, 7825 South Broadway Ave, Tyler, Texas 75703.

Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Scott, Dennie Burks, Darwin Smith, Marshall Smith, Jackson Smith, Spencer Smith and Matthew Smith.
