Myra Jo Phares was born July 29, 1941, in Ft. Knox, Kentucky to Robert and Margaret Parham. Myra was raised by Curtis and Zelma Bass of Tyler, Texas. She attended Tyler High School. She married Earl Wayne Brown in 1956 and had 5 children. She loved her family so much and enjoyed their times together whether it was swimming, going to the movies, playing cards, picnics at the lake, traveling and of course, the Dallas Cowboys. Myra was a very devoted mom and worked so hard for her family at Mother Frances Hospital taking care of the newborn babies. She loved her church, Cornerstone Baptist Church of Tyler and loved singing hymns. After the death of her husband Earl Wayne Brown in 1990, she went on to marry John Phares of Tyler now deceased.
Myra died at the age of 79 and was a resident of Providence Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 husbands.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Robert Brown of Tyler, her daughter Gaye Lynn Phillips and her husband Dennis of Tyler, her son Kenneth Brown and his wife Shelley of Hillsboro, her son John Brown and his wife Dianna of Tyler, and son James Brown and his wife Maria of Houston. She is survived by her sister Valla Jeana Coleman and her husband Paul of Frisco and 16 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren and many cousins and friends that loved her so much.
Myra loved all the get-togethers with her loving family. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Providence Park and her Dr. Mazzare and all the nursing staff that cared for her at ETMC.
It has been said that each of us can look back upon someone who made a difference in our lives, someone whose simple acts of caring made an impression upon us. In all likelihood, it was someone who sought no recognition for their selfless deeds, other than the joy of knowing that, by their hand, another's life had been made better. The quote describes the beauty of Myra Jo Phares.
