Paulina Cortez passed away Jan.28, 2011 in Tyler. She was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Luling to the late Juan and Santlaga Vega. She retired in 1995 from Cortez's Restaurant in Tyler after 25 years of service. She is survived by daughters, Maria Medina of Kilgore, Sara Cortez of Tyler, MaryLou Deleon of Kyle, Bella Cortez of Tyler, and Susie Cortez of Tyler; sons, Joe Cortez Jr. of Lockhart, Sammy Cortez of Martindale, Gus Cortez of New Chapel Hill; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at her residence on Saturday Feb. 19, 2011. Rosary will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m.
