

Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2014, Richard (Dick) Lavern Lininger, 86, left this imperfect world to meet Jesus, his perfect Lord, Savior and friend. Richard was born December 13, 1927 in Curwensville, Pennsylvania to parents Russell and Eva Lininger, where he lived until 2003. Following graduation from high school he served his country during WWII , in the US Navy and returned home to complete his education and marry Doris Bloom, his high school sweetheart, on February 22, 1951, recently celebrating their 63rd Wedding Anniversary. Richard managed the Russell H. Lininger Funeral Home for 25 years. He also served 12 years as Clearfield County Commissioner , finishing his work years and retiring from Curwensville Home Health Products. While raising his family of five daughters, Richard was active many years in his church and community, as a member of The Lions Club, Board of Directors of the Curwensville State Bank. His favorite hobbies were trout fishing in the mountain streams of Pennsylvania and following happenings of his Pittsburgh Pirates, Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers football. Curwensville was home for 75 years when he and Doris moved to Tyler, Texas to spend their golden years with their large family. Dick was a founding member of CROSSPOINTE Community Church, serving on the Leadership and Elders Board. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and grandson Isaac Elijah Cooke.
He is survived by his wife, daughters Linda (Bill) Cooke, Sherri(Michael) Stephens,Tyler; Jaymie (Michael) Shine (Champaign, IL);Marsha (Howard) Triebold, Navarre, FL; Dori (Glenn) Eikner, Tyler, grandchildren: Aaron (Kim), Seth (Kimberly), Charity, Peter, Faith, Hope, Jonas and Nikolas Cooke. Johnathan Stephens and Rachel Hogue, Janessa, Janell, and Jayson (Chelsea) Shine; Michelle(Keith) Whitfield, Lori (Daniel) Ismay, Teresa (Ryan) Daigle; Benjamin (Kim), Thomas, John, Christian Eikner; Great-granchildren: Amerie, Isaac, Olivia, Ehren, Lucas, Wesley, Aaron, Kaison, and Kamdyn and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Joan Brett of Clearfield, PA.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5 at Memorial Park Funeral Home 6-8 PM and from time of services Thursday, March 6 at 11 AM., with interment following at Tyler Memorial Cemetery, Rev. Don Spradling officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crosspoint Community Church P.O. Box 131807, Tyler, TX 75713, The family would also like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Aids at Watkins-Logan VA Home and Compass Hospice for his care.
