Rodney had many talents. At age 16, he graduated from barber school and owned The Razor's Edge in Orange, Texas. He specialized in sales and was a successful business owner to several locations, including a furniture store and selling manufactured homes. Rodney married the love of his life, Callie LaRue, on Saturday, June 19, 1976 in Orange, Texas. He had 3 amazing sons, along with a lifetime of happiness. Rodney retired from Highland Express many years later. He was also saved, and accepted his Savior at the faithful age of 61. Rodney will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Callie LaRue Dowdle; sons, Chad (Tracey) Dowdle, Jeremy (Sara) Dowdle, and Derek (Randa) Dowdle; grandchildren, Forrest, Brittany, Gage, Cutter, Bailee, and Kylee; brother, Jerry Dowdle; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Rodney is preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Dowdle; mother, Neva "Toots" Dowdle; brother, Ray Dowdle; and granddaughter, Laney Dowdle.
A time of visitation for Rodney will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 1:30 to 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 pm.
