Ronald Dee Shults, age 62, of Edom, passed away in the early evening hours of Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital – Continued Care Hospital in Tyler. He was born on January 3, 1950 in Sawyer, Oklahoma to Elmer Dee and Billie Jean Brown Shults; they preceded him in death. Ronny proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Lee Pride, on May 7, 1971 in Tyler and together they spent the next 41 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories that will live on in the lives of those he knew and loved. Ronny was a hard working man having worked for 20 years as a warehouse supervisor for McClain Building Materials and over 10 years for Mallory Propane until retirement in 2002. Ronny's favorite pastime was traveling. He truly loved the adventure and the time he was able to spend with his family doing so. When Ronny wasn’t traveling he would often be found cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, watching baseball, and listening to country music. In May 2011, Ronny and Lee renewed their vows as part of the celebration of 40 years together, some think it was done for her, but it was Ronald who wanted to celebrate the occasion and show his love for his lifelong companion and friend, Lee. Those who knew Ronny best knew that his favorite times were always spent with his loving family.
Ronny is survived by wife Lee of Edom; son, Eric Shults, and wife Jamie, of Edom; grandchildren, Colbey and Carley Shults of Edom; sister, Diane Harmon, and husband Don, of Edom; brother, Michael Shults, and wife Sara, of Durant, OK; and mothers-in-law Peppy Lewis of Tyler and Carolyn Dolgener of Tyler.
Ronny was also preceded in death by one sister, Linda Gail Warren, and one brother-in-law, Sammy Warren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Markowitz, Dr. Donald Knarr, and all of the doctors and nurses of Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and Tyler Continued Care Hospital at Mother Frances for all of the care and support over the past 10 years.
