Russell enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 13th, 1958. He was honorably discharged on August 31, 1962. During his enlistment he was stationed in Okinawa and achieved the rank of Corporal (E-4) upon discharge. Russell was also awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
On August 17th, 1963, he married Linda Sue Irby. The next year they were blessed with twin girls, Debra and Dedra, on December 7th, 1964. On September 5th, 1967 they were blessed with another daughter, Tina and on April 8th, 1970 a son, Rusty.
Russell was a member of the Chandler Church of Christ where he loved to lead singing. He enjoyed working outside in his shop and you could often find him on his tractor mowing. Through local veterinarians, Russell frequently provided funeral services for horse lovers who had to have their horses laid to rest.
Russell was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, and he will be greatly missed!!
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Linda Irby Presley; 2 daughters, Debra Woolley and Dedra Gray; son, Rusty Presley; brother, Pat Presley; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his father, Lum Presley; mother, Ruby Presley Smith; 2 brothers, Lyndell and Wyndell Presley; and daughter, Tina Vergara.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Russell may be made to American Diabetes Association; and Hospice of East Texas.
A time of visitation for Russell will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. A military graveside service will occur Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.
