Thelma Ruth Leveston, age 73, of Palestine, Texas left this earth to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. She was born on Friday, September 1, 1950 in Montalba, Texas to C.W. and Geneva Barrett.
Thelma was a kind hearted women, who was extremely loving to all. She enjoyed donating to charity and spending precious time with her beloved family. Thelma married the love of her life, Ivory, in 1971 in Los Angeles, California. Thelma was a dedicated LPN nurse in California and Sergeant for TDCJ in her professional life. She was a devoted member of the Eastern Star and frequented the Morning Star Baptist Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, both of Palestine, Texas. Thelma will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Those left to remember sweet memories are husband, Ivory Leveston; daughter, Kindria Leveston; sister, Winnie Barrett; brother, L.C. "Red" (Laverne) Barrett; godson, Corey Green; brothers-in-law, Franchis (Lee-Ethel) Pichon and Robert Leveston Jr.; sisters-in-law, Mignon Vincient, and Bessie Barrett; best friends, Louise Wells, and Victoria Johnson; special companion, Ken the dog; and a host of family members and friends throughout Texas, Georgia, California, Nevada, and Michigan.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, C.W. and Geneva Barrett; brothers, Norris Lee Barrett and Charles Barrett Sr.; grandson, Chance Marquise Rasheed Ferguson; grandmother, Lila Ann Williams; Godmother, Ruth Walker; and special companion, Little Lady the dog.
A time of visitation for Thelma will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, immediately followed by a celebration of life beginning at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will occur Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, Texas 75704.
