William Wayne “Bill” Lawerence, Jr., 84, of Flint, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Hospice of East Texas. He was born on June 1, 1942 in Tuscarora Township, Michigan to William and Donna Adell (Smith) Lawerence.
Bill served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from November of 1962 until November of 1966. He attained the rank of Boilerman Petty Officer 2nd Class.
He was united in marriage to Peggy Cox on June 4, 2002.
Bill worked as a mechanic, and later in construction, building boat houses and retaining walls.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lawerence; son, William Lawerence, III; three grandsons; two nephews, and four nieces.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and beloved kitty cat, Soxz.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, August 2, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview.
