Anna M. Angell

June 8, 1964October 21, 2013

UNCASVILLE – Anna M. Angell, 49, died unexpectedly on Monday at L&M Hospital in New London.

She was born in Norwich, CT on June 8, 1964 to Jerry and Kathleen (Smith) Angell. Anna attended the Vo-Ag program at Ledyard High School where she graduated in 1982. Jerry and Kathleen both worked as State of CT employees. Anna followed their example giving 28 years of state service to the Dept. of Developmental Services, formerly known as Dept. of Mental Retardation. She was a supervisor in the New London area at the time of her death. Her proudest service was on the Byrnes Unit, a total care unit, at Seaside Regional Center in Waterford. Anna's high standards of care allowed many family members of residents', peace of mind knowing their loved ones were respected and loved under her watch.

Anna’s greatest love, her pride and joy, was her son, Jordan Angell Zeppieri. Anna volunteered at Mohegan Elementary School; with Montville youth soccer as a coach; and with Montville National Little League as coach and president. She took great pride in her son and his interests. She enjoyed travel and time on the water. Anna was also a lover of animals, and always seemed to collect a small pack of dogs.

Anna is survived by her wife of 18 years, Annette Zeppieri, their son, Jordan Angell Zeppieri, her father Jerry Angell, her sister; Karen and her husband Paul Strecker, 6 nieces & nephews; Kenny and Nick Strecker, Allyson and Justin Bowker, Matthew and Marissa Hendrickson. She was predeceased by her mother Kathleen.

Memorial Services with be held at the Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tnpk, Uncasville, CT., on Monday, Oct. 28th at 11am with burial immediately following. A Calling Hour will be held from 10am until the time of the service.

Sorry I was unable to attend the services for Anna. Although I never worked directly with her I had some contact with her while working at the Department of Developmental Services. I had just bumped into her a few weeks before her death and got to say hello one last time. I do know how important her family was and that in the few conversations that we had she talked about Jordan and his sports activities. I am sorry for your families loss and may you cherish the happy times, the fond memories and know that she did leave her mark on this earth with all that she did for others. Take care of yourselves in this difficult time. Mary Evans

Annette and Jordan-

I am so sorry to hear of Anna passing. She was a very loving and accepting individual who valued family and friends. Even though her time here on earth was way to short it is nice to know an honest to goodness Angel is watching us from above,

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Having worked with Anna on the Byrnes Unit at Seaside Regional Center, I can personally attest to her compassion and professionalism in her care for the residents. She was a consummate human services professional and a joy to work with. Her caring ways and exceptional work ethic were writ large on the lives of those she served.
