Donald Hapgood

Oakdale-Donald F. Hapgood, age 66, of Oakdale, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on May 17, 2012. He was born on April 9, 1946 in Wolfeboro, NH. to the late Calvin and Eris (Perry) Hapgood. He married Christine (Roderick) Hapgood on July 26, 1969 at St. John in Montville.

Donald graduated High School in Waterford and went on to serve in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He worked as a General Foreman Welder at Electric Boat. He then went on to drive for the Montville Board of Education. He was a member of the Sons of Daughters of the American Revolution, VFW and the Montville Polish Club. He was an avid Red Sox, UCONN Huskies, and Patriots fan. He loved spending his summers in New Hampshire camping and fishing.

Besides his loving wife Christine, he is survived by a son David Hapgood of Oakdale, a son Gregory Hapgood and his wife Brandy of Plainfield, a daughter Brianne Messer and her husband Micah of Oakdale and grandchildren Anthony Hapgood, Dylan Hapgood, Alyssa Hapgood, Brayden Hapgood, Crystal Messer and Ashlynn Messer. Donald also leaves behind a brother James Hapgood, and sisters Patricia Martell, Diane Pope, and Joanne Chann. He is predeceased by a granddaughter Emily Hapgood.

Family and friends may visit the Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, 53 Norwich New London Tpke., Uncasville on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Center Conway Cemetery in Conway, New Hampshire.
