Donna L Geary

Born October 9, 1945 in Providence to Marion (Couper) Lawrence and Omer D. Waycott, Donna was the oldest of three children, including her brothers Gavin H. Waycott and Bruce J. Waycott.

Donna graduated Lyman Hall High School Wallingford (1963) and continued to earn a BA in English from Aurora College (1967). A dedicated professional, Donna retired with 32 years of service to the State of Connecticut between the Labor Department and Social Services.

She married her husband, John Geary in 1981. Together they raised their son Scott in Uncasville, CT. They remained in John’s family home for 40 years during which time she spent making it her own place of tranquility.

She was actively involved in various community organizations, including the Montville Youth Advisory Board, Cribbage League, Montville Web Team, and the Montville Education Fund. Both she and John shared a passion for improving the community through action. Donna cherished her time spent with her grandsons, Eli and Seth, and enjoyed traveling to new places and creating lasting memories with friends. Her joyful presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Scott Geary, and his wife, Holly Geary, of Oak Ridge, TN. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Geary, and her parents. She also mourned the loss of her brothers,. Her legacy of love, kindness, and community service will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Calling hours for Donna will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 3 - 5PM at the Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen 53 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Uncasville, CT followed by a funeral home service at 5pm.

In lieu of flowers Donna supports the American Cancer Society.
