

Eugene P. Baker, age 77, of Uncasville, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the West Haven VA Hospital under Hospice Care. He fought fiercely for 7 1/2 years from his service related cancer. Gene was blessed to have an awesome staff of medical professionals.
Gene served in the United States Army and performed his duty in Vietnam working within the Special Forces helping to lay communication lines. He also helped with clerk work when not it combat areas. He was honorably discharged after 3 years. Upon discharge, Gene worked for Brand Rex, UPS, then 30 years with Dow Chemical.
After retirement, Gene worked maintenance at St. James Church in Preston, CT and part-time with the Mohegan Tribe as an inspector for boxing as well as active in other Mohegan Tribal areas. Gene took pride in being a member of the Mohegan Tribe in Uncasville, CT.
Gene is survived by his wife Kathy, his son Chad P. Baker and wife Jennifer, two wonderful grandsons Ethan and Aiden, his brothers Fred and William Baker, step-brother Roland Ives, and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents and step-father, daughter Regina P. Baker, a grandson Caleb Baker, and Niece Kristy Ives.
Gene always tried to be a fair person and was liked and loved by many. Remember him for his kindness and fairness. He was a wonderful person...a good man.
Funeral Services will be private at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your choice of military foundations.
