John R. Luty

John was a graduate of Montville High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam. After returning home, John became a Montville Police Officer, serving the town where he grew up. In 1986, he continued his dedication to public service as a Game Warden with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. John retired in 2006 after many years of service.

Anyone who knew John knew he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and trapping, and could almost always be found out on the water. When not boating, John treasured time spent at his cabin in the North Maine Woods.

In addition to his wife Nadine, John is survived by his daughters, Jennifer and her husband Russell Fonseca of Griswold, and Jessica and her partner Andrew Hobson III of New London; his niece, Sarah Luty of Montville, whom he loved like a daughter and her son Lincoln Russell Luty; his grandchildren, Davaughn and Brianna; and his great-grandson, Jeremiah John Luty, who will proudly carry on his name.

John was predeceased by his brother Russell J. Luty and daughter Jamie L. Luty.

Visitation will be Thursday February 12, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Montville Funeral Home 53 Norwich New London Tpke. A Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors will be held Friday Feb. 13, 2026 11:00 am at St. John Church in Uncasville. John will be laid to rest with his late brother, Russell J. Luty at a later date.
