

Joseph Stephen Bellone Sr passed away peacefully at Apple Rehabilitation Center in Uncasville, CT on August 19, 2021 at 81years of age. Joe was born on August 10, 1940 in Norwich, CT to Sylvester (Sam) Bellone and Veronica Gombrewicz. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Daniels) of Uncasville, CT which he married on July 28, 1962 at St. Johns Church in Uncasville. Joe is also survived by his sister Ann Koziol of Norwich, three children, Joseph Bellone II of Groton, Veronica Mobley (Steven) of Waterford and Corina Bellone of Uncasville. He is also survived be five grandchildren, Heaven Caristo-Mobley of West Hartford, Sage Miebach of Orlando, FL, Mason Mobley of Waterford, Addison Mobley of Waterford and Sabrina Bellone of Uncasville. Joe was predeceased by his grandson Jared Bellone in 2017.
Joe attended NFA in Norwich and left school to join the United States Army in 1957 at 17 where he received his GED. Joe served as a combat engineer and went overseas to Lebanon to participate in the Lebanon Crisis of 1958. Joe was then stationed in Hoescht, Germany until he returned to Fort Benning, Georgia and was honorably discharged in 1963.
After returning home to Montville, CT in 1963, Joe began his long tenure at Robertson Paper Box Company, Inc., now known as Rand-Whitney Paperboard Corporation, until 1995. Joe then worked as a security guard at Foxwoods Casino until his retirement in 2009.
Joe was an active member of the Montville Senior Center enjoying daily conversations of sports and politics with his friends and his jumble puzzle wars with his friend John for many years. He was also an active member of St. Johns Church in Uncasville with his favorite seat every Saturday.
Arrangements are in the care of Montville Funeral Home. Services will be held at St. Johns Church Uncasville on Friday Sept. 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with a burial at St. Patricks Cemetery in Uncasville following. A Celebration of Life will follow in the care of The Brown Derby in Uncasville will be held following the burial.
Donations can be made in his name directly to the Montville Senior Center or St. Johns Church both in Uncasville.
