She was born to Blagi and Victoria Baciewski, both polish immigrants, at Moxley Road in Uncasville, on March 26, 1924. She met Roland Gauthier (deceased) before World War II and waited for him to serve in the Army in Europe and later during the Korean War while she worked as a psychiatric aide. They were married in Elkton, MD on June 9, 1952 and were married 41 years until his death in 1993.
They raised a rambunctious family of two boys and a girl on Sunset Hill in Montville where he worked as a Mechanic and later a Lobsterman, and she at Robertson's Paper for 32 years.
Anyone who ever met her would tell you she was the kindest, gentlest, sweetest woman in the world with a quick and easy smile and an always-ready laugh. She will be missed and the world is a smaller place without her.
Aside from her family and friends, gardening was her great passion. She worked for decades to make Sunset Hill one of the prettiest spots in Montville when it explodes in purple, white, and blue blooms every April and May.
She is survived by three children: her daughter JoAnne (Gauthier) Ingalls of New Harbor, ME, her son Gary Gauthier and daughter-in-law Cyndie of Montville, and her son David Gauthier also of New Harbor, ME; three Grandchildren: Chad McKernan and wife Erin, of New Harbor, ME, Aaron Gauthier of Waldorf, MD, and Chris Gauthier of Montville; and three Great-Grandchildren: Camden Gauthier, Eve McKernan, and Sterling McKernan. The family would like to specially thank Holly Lauver, her caregiver and friend for all of her help.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10am at the Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tnpk., Uncasville CT with interment immediately following at St. Patrick Cemetery in Uncasville. A Calling Hour will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
