Stoney was born in Lemont, PA on December 19, 1941 to the late Abe and Nancy Jane (Kimmel) Brooks. He left school to enlist in the Army in 1959 joining the war effort in Germany until his Honorable Discharge in 1962. While serving in Germany he was an amateur boxer with several wins to his name. He returned from service and married the love of his life, Nancy (Lowden) in Virginia on March 2, 1962. She survives him. Together they raised their family while Stoney worked as a coal miner, steel mill iron worker, and finally as a crane operator for EB until his retirement. In addition to their love of each other and the commitment to family, Stoney had a deep love and respect for horses. When he wasn't at work he could often be found in the stables. Their move to Connecticut was prompted by his desire to be near his first born granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters; Carol & husband Edwin Davenport, Janice & husband Albert Johnson, Darla Brooks & fiancé Harold Mooers, grandchildren; Tanya & husband Ken Lent, Edward & wife Sarrah Watson, Christopher Watson & fiancé Natasha Haskell, Eva Brooks, Justin Johnston, Meagan Brooks & boyfriend Tyler Turner, Brandon Davenport & girlfriend Krysta Salas, Angelina Davenport, and Crystal Favaloro, great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn & Logan Lent, Gabriella & Jacob Watson, Austin & Shianne Favaloro and siblings; Gary “Butch” Brooks of Olmsted Falls, OH, and Alfred Brooks of Connellsville, PA., close family friends; Bonnie & Dale Huntley, Amy and Aiden MacGregor.
