Richard L. Dupont Sr.

Richard Leo Dupont, Sr., 86, passed away on November 4, 2025, at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born in Voluntown, CT on November 11, 1938, son of the late Ernest Bartholomew Dupont, Sr. and Flossie Belle (Bibeault) Dupont. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest B. Dupont, Jr., his brother Neil A. Dupont and his sister, Joy M. Dupont.

Richard was predeceased by the love of his life of 46 years, Janice Barbara (Barry) Dupont of Griswold, CT in 2007. They were married on July 4, 1961, and together they raised five children in Montville, CT.

A proud graduate of Norwich Tech, Richard was a machinist who loved his trade. In addition to working as a machinist his entire career, he had a personal workshop that he loved to spend time in.

In addition to being a machinist, Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He was an avid gardener and loved bowling, owning a pro shop with his wife, Janice, known as J & D Pro Shop. He was devoted to his family and attended his

children’s and grandchildren’s games and concerts whenever possible. In fact, his grandchildren grew to expect to see him in the stands.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Sharon Miller and her husband Richard, his daughter, Sherry Branch and her husband Richard, his daughter Suzanne Healy and her fiancé Chris Pero, his son, Richard Dupont, Jr. and his son, James Dupont and his partner Erin Hill. He is survived by his grandchildren, Richard (Ricky) Branch, Jr. and

his wife Rachel, Michele Carey and her husband Daniel, Matthew Biltcliffe, Michael Branch and his wife Rebecca, Christy Healy, Megan Healy and her fiancé Tyler Brooks, Alyssa Dupont and Franklin and Pixie Hill. In addition, he is survived by his great

grandchildren Abriel Carey, Gabriel Carey and Madison Branch with his fourth great grandchild due any day, Maverick Brooks.

Richard will be deeply missed by his family, but the memories he created will remain

with his family for generations. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date.
